Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Title: Catching Fire
Author: Suzanne Collins
Publisher: Scholastic Press
Series: The Hunger Games
Series Number: Book Two
Page Amount: 391
Chapter Amount: 27
Release Date: September 1, 2009
Overall Rating: 10 out of 10

Warning:
This is the second book in the Hunger Games series. Although I do not intentionaly put spoilers, the following synopsis and review may contain spoilers to earlier books. Do not read unless you have read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.

Plot: The plot was very fast paced.. Okay, it was UBER fast paced! I loved the plot! It drew me in from page one! Again, like The Hunger Games, I got in trouble for reading when I was supposed to! So overall the plot was amazing! Enough said..

Characters: The characters have developed soo much since The Hunger Games. Not that I'm saying the characters were under developed in the last book, but they have gotten even better! I laughed, I cryed (a lot), I just overall loved the characters!

Creativitiy: Again, the creativity in this dystopian series is REALLY good. (like I said in my Hunger Games review) The world Suzanne Collins created was really thought out!

Writing: The writing in Catching Fire is just as good as it was in The Hunger Games. Maybe even better! I love Suzanne Collins writing and I think she just made me love it even more! I cannot see what she has got in hand for Mockingjay! 'Cause if her writing gets any better I will explode..

Ending: There was a HUGE cliffhanger at the end! My jaw just dropped. I didn't know what to say! You just don't expect what happens at the end of this book! And I loved it!

Cover: The cover, again, isn't the prettiest cover but it goes with the book so well, I love it anyways!

All in all: I LOVED CATCHING FIRE!! If you liked The Hunger Games you will NOT be dissapointed! Even if you didn't like The Hunger Games I will hunt you down you will love Catching Fire! So yeeeaaa, there is nothing left to say! Just, just, read this book/series and it is amazing you need to read it right now!

First Sentence: I clasp the flask between my hands even though the warmth from the tea has long since leached into the frozen air.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Title: The Hunger Games
Author: Suzanne Collins
Publisher: Scholastic Press
Series: The Hunger Games
Series Number: Book One
Page Amount: 374
Chapter Amount: 27
Release Date: October 1, 2008
Overall Rating: 10 out of 10

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before--and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Plot: Wow, where can I start? The. Plot. Is... AMAZING!! It was VERY fast paced and I got in trouble constintly for reading when I wasn't supposed to! I cryed, I laughed, I just couldn't take my eyes from the pages! I LOVE THIS PLOT!! Enough said.

Characters: The characters where so relatable. Katniss is probably my new favorite female character out of all the books I read. She is just a strong, smart, female character! Peeta was cute and some of the comments he made lightened the book a little bit. The other characters where awesome too! I cryed a LOT because of characters.. And I love that because that means I'm REALLY connected to the characters.

Creativity: This probably my new favorite dystopian novel. The world that Suzanne Collins created is very well thought out. All of the districts, the captial, and Panem itself! There's definitly nothing wrong with the creativity.

Writing: The writing just flowed and is one of the reasons why I love this book! Some people have a problem with the writing in this book, but to tell you the truth, I don't see anything wrong with the writing.

Ending: The ending was full of twists and turns and when It finally ends, your left with a cliff hanger. But not a huge one that leave you pulling your hair out! So the ending is really good in my standards

Cover: The cover isn't the prettiest cover, but once you read it you'll see that the cover plays a HUGE part in the book. And I like that about the cover. So the cover is pretty good.

All in all: Overall this is an AMAZING book! This honestly my new favorite book. Every aspect of this I loved! Definitly pick this up if you haven't already! You will NOT be dissapointed!

First Sentence: When I wake up, the other side of the bed is cold.

Awakened by P.C. Cast + Kristin Cast

Title: Awakened
Author: P.C. Cast + Kristin Cast
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Series: House of Night
Series Number: Book Eight
Page Amount: 290
Chapter Amount: 26
Release Date: January 4, 2011
Overall Rating: 9 out of 10

Warning:
This is the eighth book in the House of Night series. Although I do not intentionaly put spoilers, the following synopsis and review may contain spoilers to earlier books. Do not read unless you have read Marked, Betrayed, Chosen, Untamed, Hunted, Tempted, and Burned by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast.

Exonerated by the Vampyre High Council and returned to her position of High Priestess at Tulsa’s House of Night, Neferet has sworn vengeance on Zoey.  Dominion over Kalona is only one of the weapons she plans to use against Z.  But Zoey has found sanctuary on the Isle of Skye and is being groomed by Queen Sgiach to take over for her there.  Being Queen would be cool, wouldn’t it?  Why should she return to Tulsa? After losing her human consort, Heath, she will never be the same – and her relationship with her super-hot-warrior, Stark, may never be the same either…
And what about Stevie Rae and Rephaim?  The Raven Mocker refuses to be used against Stevie Rae, but what choice does he have when no one in the entire world, including Zoey, would be okay with their relationship?  Does he betray his father or his heart?
In the pulse-pounding 8th book in the bestselling House of Night series, how far will the bonds of friendship stretch and how strong are the ties that bind one girl’s heart?

Plot: The plot was paced OK but for the first third of the book I had to force myself to pick it up and when I was actully reading it I couldn't really get into it. But after that part of the book It got really interesting and I could actully enjoy it. So an OK plot.

Characters: The characters where as good as all of the other books but they *knocked off* a favorite person of mine and I got SO mad! You don't kill *spoiler here* ! But luckily one of my favorite characters changed for the better and that sorta made up for it but still, that made me mad. So the characters where pretty good it was just me and that one character.

Creativity: Whoa! This book just got crazier than before! (If thats even possible!) More and more chaos is introduced and I LOVE IT! Gotta love the action so the creativity is really good! ( and even better than before!)

Writing: The writing is about the same. Good but nothing I would be TOTALLY raving about. So, okay writing.

Ending: The ending was shocking and left you with a cliffhanger like in all of the House of Night books. But I love cliffhangers so it was okay. So great ending!

Cover: The cover covers (heehees) both things that are important to me in a cover. 1 It goes with the story. 2 It's pretty.(or better) So cover is good with me. :B

All in all: I loved this next installment of the House of Night series and even though it falled a little flat I loved it just the same. Maybe if it would have drew me in better in the beginning I would have definitly given it a full 10 stars but 9 stars is still better than like 2 so not a bad book by any means. So, that was my book review! Hope you enjoyed!

First Sentence: A disquieting sense of irritation awakened Neferet.
